I’m devastated at missing the title run-in through injury
It would be fair to say I have endured a rollercoaster of emotions in the last two months.
I had the highs of becoming a father for the first time, which is an incredible feeling,  followed by the lows and disappointment of suffering the bane of every professional sportsman’s life - injury.
Fatherhood is treating me very well so far. Little Dylan Lewis Moody hasn’t provided me with too many sleepless nights yet!
My recurring Achilles heel problem has though.
It’s the same injury that caused me to miss most of the Six Nations. So I flew out to see a specialist in
Before the op, the specialist told me I’d be out for eight weeks, which was annoying to say the least, but worse was to follow. When he did the operation he discovered that my Achilles was partially ruptured, so he had to cut part of it away which means I am out for between 16 and 20 weeks.
My season is over, I’ve missed the EDF Cup final at Twickenham for the second successive year and the title run-in, so to say I am frustrated and bitterly disappointed would be an understatement.
I won’t be involved again now until the start of next season in September and it’s pretty hard to take, to be honest. I now have to concentrate on my rehabilitation and getting back to full fitness, and getting all other aspects of my life sorted and getting back as soon as possible.
I’m hobbling around at the moment, so I can’t do much to use up my energy. I’m doing one training session every other day so it takes its toll mentally on you. And the worst thing is not being able to play with your team-mates. I was a frustrated fan on the sidelines last Saturday as I saw the Tigers relinquish the EDF Cup, with a very poor display, albeit to a very good Ospreys side.
Now the Tigers have to pick themselves up and bounce back immediately; there is still everything to play for in the league. You write us off at your peril.
